Some applications require GPU hardware acceleration.
If you server has a dedicated GPU (not a onboard chipset) then you can benefit from the hardware acceleration.
In order to set it up :
In the AdminTool > Advanced Settings > Session, set "Prefer Hardware GPU" to Yes
In addition to the "Prefer Hardware GPU" setting, you need to enable GPOs under:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Remote Session Environment:
- Enable Advanced RemoteFX graphics for RemoteApp (Windows mentions 2008, but it's not limited to this OS !)
- Set a minimum color depth of 32 bits for RemoteFX to work as expected.
- You'll also find numerous settings in these GPOs that you can test to achieve the desired result for your situation.
According to our customers using this feature, the settings configured in these GPOs apply better to Windows 2019 & Windows 2022 than to Windows 2016.
